Share Your ELA Methods Syllabus Party - National Council of Teachers of English

Are you teaching an ELA methods class in the winter or spring of 2024? Or did you just teach an ELA methods class and want to make changes for the next time you teach it? If so, you are invited to an online syllabus-sharing party on Friday, December 8, at 3:00 p.m. ET, hosted by Nadia Behizadeh, Katherine Covino, and Rubén González of NCTE’s English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE) and the ELATE Commission on English Methods Teaching and Learning.

During the party, attendees will be placed into trios to meet other teacher educators from across the US and international contexts. In these groups, each attendee will have time to share a part of their syllabus that they have questions about or are excited about. It could be a text set, fieldwork expectations, a key assessment and accompanying rubric, or any other aspect of the syllabus. After each attendee shares, other members of the trio will share positive and constructive feedback. At the close of the breakout groups, time will be provided for attendees to briefly discuss exciting innovations they learned about and also to voice any lingering questions and concerns.

This event is an ELATE members-only event and registration is required. Please contact profdev@ncte.org with any questions.
