Celebrate Student Writers with NCTE

Be a Judge for the Achievement Awards in Writing

Each year, NCTE celebrates thousands of student writers across the country through our Student Writing Awards programs. As the number of submissions grows each year, so grows our need for volunteer judges who review and score submissions. Would you consider serving as a judge for the 2026 Achievement Awards in Writing to help us recognize and encourage talented high school sophomores and juniors?

Our judges are asked to review students’ contest entries by Wednesday, April 22. After judging is complete, as a token of gratitude, you would receive a 50% discount code for the NCTE Store and be entered into a drawing for additional prizes.

  • If you live and teach in two different states or provinces, please include both.
  • Certificates will be emailed within a week of completing the judging process.
  • Contest judging takes place from August to November each year.
  • This year, NCTE would like to express its gratitude to reviewers by highlighting their service in the summer of 2026. We plan to shout out each reviewer on our website with their first name, last name, and state/territory. To opt out or modify what is shared, please select one of the options below.
