NCTE is a community of language arts teaching professionals creating vital support, inspiration, and opportunity. We’ve stood the test of time since 1911 and nurture this mission:

To promote the development of literacy, the use of language to construct personal and public worlds and to achieve full participation in society, through the learning and teaching of English and the related arts and sciences of language.

Supporting NCTE translates to support for a community of teachers, educators, readers, writers, and thinkers uplifting the cause of literacy on behalf of our students.

“When students learn to read critically, write with purpose, and speak with confidence, they gain the tools to shape their own lives and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

Your support helps us advocate for policies, resources, and professional respect that protect this vital work.

— Emily Kirkpatrick, Executive Director, NCTE

Support the NCTE General Fund

Donations to the General Fund support NCTE’s mission-driven efforts to enrich teacher and student learning, advance research, preserve intellectual freedom, and support educator agency.

Gifts can be made in any amount, named or anonymously, and in tribute to any individual or organization, if desired.

Support Annual Convention Scholarships

Donations to this fund provide scholarships to the NCTE Annual Convention to send aspiring early career teachers and flourishing leaders to the treasured experience described as “a dream come true” for many.

Your donation can provide a life-changing opportunity for an educator to experience world-class speakers and authors, attend hands-on workshops, foster connections with literacy colleagues, plus gain actionable teaching strategies and resources to take back to their classroom.

Gift an NCTE Membership

Gift memberships to NCTE are available for purchase ($59 annual membership) and can be purchased in another’s name and sent to them via email.

Gifting an NCTE membership is a meaningful way to support a current teacher or literacy professional, pay tribute to the work someone is doing in the field, or pass along inspiration and opportunity to a colleague in the field.
