A Kind of Spark

A Kind of Spark by Elle McNicoll is an insightful novel that follows 11-year-old Addie as she campaigns for a memorial to honor women accused of witchcraft centuries before in her small Scottish village. Addie has always felt different—she struggles to make friends, is obsessed with sharks, and is upset by bright lights and loud noises. She feels a kinship with the women who were called witches and imagines that if she had lived long ago, she may have been accused of witchery, too.
