Changing Jareth

The story of Jareth Gardner is told from Jareth’s point of view as a twenty-two year old looking back on the past five years of his life, mainly during the ages of seventeen to nineteen. The story begins as Jareth and his best friend, Matthew, are breaking into a
house, as they routinely do, and find an elderly man in his bedroom. Collapsing of a heart attack in front of the two boys, they flee the scene leaving the man to die. Jareth and Matthew are never caught for the incident but this experience weighs on them heavily, so much that they take a break from the cat burglar scene. and eventually each other.
