Hard Love

Throughout the book Hard Love by Ellen Wittlinger (1999), the story of two misfit individuals is clearly portrayed. The difficulties that individuals experience growing up are shown throughout this book through the characters John and Marisol. There are many instances in which John continues to be scarred by the divorce that his parents went through and struggles to have strong relationships with either individual. Also, he very often feels the pain and confusion of loving others, as his mother never illustrated her love for her son.
