Jeanne is a child and victim of the war in Rwanda. She is a Tutsi and along with her family, she survives the Rwandan genocide and is now writing her experience with her adoptive mother, Hanna Jansen acting as her mouthpiece. Jeanne’s family is either killed or lost in the chaos of an attempted massacre of an entire village of Tutsi men, women, and children. Jeanne escaped and hid, eventually traveling with strangers to find safety, eventually, in Germany with an adoptive family.
