Romeo, the only son of the Montague family, is deeply heartbroken because the woman he’s been courting has decided to become a nun. His friends and family are looking for ways to cheer him up when an illiterate messenger asks for help reading the lists of guests for a party that will occur that night at the Capulet house. Even though the Montagues and the Capulets are brawling in the streets over an old feud, Romeo’s friends convince him that sneaking into that party so he can behold other women will cure him of his heartache. He begrudgingly agrees, even though he has a strange feeling that attending that party will lead to his death.
