Sahara Special (2004) is the story of Sahara Jones, a fifth grader for the second time around. After a teacher finds notes that she has been writing to her absentee father, instead of doing her work, Sahara is placed in the Special Needs program. She meets with a teacher each day in the hallway outside her regular classroom.
