Tattoo (2007) by Jennifer Lynn Barnes looks like a risqué novel at first glance, but only if you judge a book by its cover. Yet it is a novel full of science fiction and light hearted adventures that only happen in fantasies. Although this book deals with supernatural powers and evil forces, it also explores the relationships between friends and relationships between people of different genders. The main characters deal with everyday adolescent issues such as junior high drama, cliques, and the pressures of becoming an adult while trying to find their niche in society. Jennifer Lynn Barnes is a graduate from the Yale University and currently has three young adult novels out, each of them receiving positive reviews.
