Welcome to the NCTE event calendar! Here, you can find a list of events, including webinars, workshops, and in-person conferences. These events provide opportunities for English language arts teachers to learn new strategies and techniques, network with colleagues, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field.

If you have an event that you would like to submit to be included on the NCTE event calendar, please fill out the event submission form. To be considered, events must align with the mission of NCTE and be of professional interest to English language arts teachers. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

Please join the Program in Writing and Critical Inquiry at the University at Albany, SUNY, to celebrate the incredible lives of legendary writer Nikki Giovanni (June 7, 1943-December 9, 2024) and UAlbany alum and late Writing and Critical Inquiry director, Dr. Stephanie Hassan Richardson (June 8, 1975-October 28, 2024). This event is headlined by Dr. Hassan Richardson’s family. Dayatra Hassan and Khadijah Jeader will perform an original composition, Natalie Day Hassan, Tiffany Tarver, and Jeenah Alwakeel will read selections from the work of Nikki Giovanni. UAlbany professor Kyra Gaunt will perform a musical homage.

Attendees are invited to participate by reading selections from African American authors on behalf of Giovanni and Hassan Richardson. We will try to accommodate as many speakers as time allows.  Those who are unable to read may submit selections, which will be collated for family and campus community.

For those who wish to participate, in person or via Zoom, please register at https://forms.office.com/r/UNh3eV7rdL and/or email Allison V. Craig (acraig@albany.edu). In your registration/email, please share selection and approximate time the selection will take to read (depending on number of participants, we will try to keep readings/comments to around 3 minutes).
