Let’s Vibe: Celebrating AfroFuturism

February 17, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Free

We are really excited about this year’s theme, Celebrating Afrofuturism, and have a lineup of students, faculty, alumni, and local residents who will take us on a journey through song, poetry, book readings, and a special live podcast snippet. Dr. Clarissa West-White from Bethune-Cookman University will deliver the keynote address. Gumbo and other refreshments will be served in The Mothership Cafe.

Afrofuturism threads itself through the works of writers like Octavia Butler, with her science-fiction visions, and music artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Parliament Funkadelic, Andre 3000, Erykah Badu, and others. Many of these works will be highlighted on Friday!
