Welcome to the NCTE event calendar! Here, you can find a list of events, including webinars, workshops, and in-person conferences. These events provide opportunities for English language arts teachers to learn new strategies and techniques, network with colleagues, and stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in the field.

If you have an event that you would like to submit to be included on the NCTE event calendar, please fill out the event submission form. To be considered, events must align with the mission of NCTE and be of professional interest to English language arts teachers. We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

St. Mark’s Black History Month Read-In

February 24, 2025 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 am

Free

During February, we will celebrate the Black voices that have shaped literature, history, and culture, deepening our appreciation for the richness of Black storytelling.

To support this initiative, we will provide books by Black authors for each of our grade levels. We will also offer a couple titles that are “must reads” by grade level during the month in support of later activities. Additionally, St. Mark’s will host visits from local Black authors—stay tuned for dates and details! We will end the month with St. Mark’s first ever African American Read-in Day.

African American Read-in Day
February 24, 2025 | 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Join the St. Mark’s community as we celebrate Lit(erature) & Legacy: Honoring Black Voices, a special event in alignment with the NCTE African American Read-In. This morning of literacy and reflection will highlight the works of Black authors and storytellers. During this time, Chapel Chums will come together for a special read-in, discussion, and activity, hosted by volunteers from our St. Mark’s community.

To find more information about the national read-in day, please visit NCTE’s website. Additionally, you can find a recommended book list here.

We look forward to an inspiring morning of community, connection, and celebration of Black voices in literature!
