Virtual African American Read-In for Children with San Jose Public Library

Every February, the National Council of Teachers of English commemorates books written by Black authors, especially those that elevate Black experiences.   The National African American Read-In is an effort to encourage communities to read together, highlighting African American authors.  
Our San Jose Public Library goal for this series is to introduce a sampling of noteworthy African American poets and authors to young children.  Our target audience is 1st-3rd graders, but open to all ages, and of interest to children up through 6th grade as well.

Join us Tuesday through Friday  for one or more days — 
February 16-19 at 10:30 a.m.


OR 

when we repeat this program the 2nd week in the afternoons, from
February 23-26 at 4 p.m.

Our Reading to Children selections will be targeted for children from 1st through 3rd grade, but anyone 5 and up is welcome to register and attend for any one session or for all four!

Sign up for your choice of 1, 2, 3, or 4 days of listening as we share poems, stories, and excerpts of writing by significant African American authors, along with a brief biographical comment about each one.
