LOCATION: Our conference will be held in the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center.
CONCURRENT SESSION OFFERINGS: Check out all of our CEL 2024 sessions and our full program on our Convention page. Begin planning now!
INTERNET FOR PRESENTERS AND ATTENDEES: NCTE will provide an LCD projector with an accompanying screen, microphone, and sound patch. No other media equipment will be provided. Although there is internet, we recommend having your presentation as a PowerPoint or PDF in case there are any connectivity issues. We do not recommend relying on being able to stream videos; have a backup plan in case streaming is slow.
PROMOTION: Share with everyone on social media that you are attending (X or Instagram version) and/or presenting (X or Instagram version)!
REGISTRATION AND NAME BADGES: If you are attending the NCTE Annual Convention, your name badge will be the same for CEL. If you are attending only the CEL Annual Convention, you may pick up your name badge outside of room 153 A/B (our main ballroom).
TIPS: We recommend bringing a cell phone charger or battery pack so you can continue using it all day. A notepad and/or device to take notes is also recommended. The program and days can be overwhelming and busy: check out the program in advance and allow yourself time to rest. We encourage you to meet others and build your network and support system.
UPLOADS AND RESOURCES: CEL will not be utilizing NCTE’s eShow Events app. Thus, if you are presenting, please provide links, QR codes, or hard-copy handouts for resources to attendees. We do not have a virtual platform this year.
Schedule Notes
SCHEDULE OVERVIEW:
SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 24: We will kick off at 1:45 p.m. ET in room 153 A/B at the Boston Convention & Exposition Center.
Keynote Address: Carol Jago will begin at 2:20 p.m. ET after our welcome and award announcements.
MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25: Our program formally begins at 8:00 a.m. ET.
Keynote Speaker: Dr. Sonja Cherry-Paul starts at 8:25 a.m. ET.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26: Our program begins at 8:00 a.m. ET before our Spark and workshop sessions.
SPARK SESSIONS: This year, we have various Spark Sessions for the entire group. The speaker will introduce a topic and then open for whole-group or small-group discussions. These are more informal explorations. On Tuesday, these sessions will be more open and reflect the needs of the attendees: we will work together through leadership topics and challenges.
SUNDAY FACILITATED DINNERS: Each year, CEL hosts Facilitated Dinners on Sunday night. These dinners are not included with registration, and everyone pays on their own at the restaurant. However, CEL has made reservations at each restaurant and will have a CEL member as “facilitator” (in case conversation needs a boost!). This is a fantastic way to continue conversations and meet other CEL members in a casual setting. Check out our Facilitated Dinners sign-up and plan to join us! Please only add your name; do not delete others, and please do not add additional rows. You will have until 4:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, November 24, to sign up. Spots are limited.
MONDAY MEAL: Your registration includes a boxed lunch on Monday at noon.
MONDAY SOCIAL HOUR: Beginning at 5:30 p.m. ET on Monday, November 25, join us at Crescendo Hotel Lobby Bar in the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport for a social hour. Snacks, dinner, and drinks are on your own, but we will gather together to continue connections, collaborations, and conversations. All are invited to this relaxed extension of the Convention!
ELF DINNER: There is a planned dinner for the Emerging Leaders Fellowship (ELF) mentors and mentees. Participants in this program have received details.
