In May 2026, NCTE released a working framework to help middle and high school ELA educators in grades 6-12 explore the responsible, purposeful, and ethical use of AI in their discipline. Developed by ELA educators and researchers, and currently being applied by NCTE’s ELA AI Framework classroom cohorts, the framework will evolve through real-world use and educator feedback. We invite you to also review the working framework and share your perspectives below to further help shape and refine it.
