NCTE, in partnership with the Library of Congress, invites educators to apply for a cohort and professional learning opportunity. This cohort will meet monthly as the educators work together to create rationales for including and teaching with primary sources in their classrooms. Cohort members will have the opportunity to contribute to a rationale database.
As conditions for travel might allow, participants will be given complimentary registration for the 2024 NCTE Annual Convention in November in Boston. Stipends of $1,200 will be offered.
The project and cohort will involve:
- formation of several Teacher Corps, learning and writing groups of five teachers and one leader in each, to create primary source rationales;
- in-person meeting at the NCTE Annual Convention in Boston in November 2024;
- cohorts of educators who work together to create a searchable database containing primary source rationales to spur the use of the Library of Congress’s collection within ELA contexts; and
- ongoing virtual professional learning work.
Find the application below. The deadline to apply is Thursday, October 10, at 5:00 p.m. ET.
