CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR THE 2024 NCTE BALLOT

CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR THE NCTE BALLOT 

Vice President—two candidates drawn from the Elementary Section (Section means voting section, regardless of teaching level); one to be elected 

Secondary Representative-at-Large—two candidates, who must be members of the Secondary Section and classroom teachers (grades 9–12) at the time of nomination; one to be elected 

Trustees of the Research Foundation—two candidates, who must be voting members of NCTE; one to be elected 

NCTE Nominating Committee candidates shall represent geographic diversity and be grouped by voting Section (Elementary, Middle, Secondary, College). For 2023–24: 

  • Three members of the Elementary section; one to be elected 
  • Three members of the Middle Level section; one to be elected 
  • Three members of the Secondary section; one to be elected 
  • Six members of the College section; two to be elected

Elementary Section 

Four candidates (Elementary Section members) for the Elementary Section Steering Committee; two to be elected 

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2024–25 Elementary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected 

Middle Level Section 

Four candidates (Middle Level Section members) for the Middle Level Section Steering Committee; two to be elected 

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2024–25 Middle Level Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected 

Secondary Section 

Eight candidates (Secondary Section members) for the Secondary Section Steering Committee; four to be elected 

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2024–25 Secondary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected 

College Section 

Four candidates (College Section members) for the College Section Steering Committee; two to be elected 

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2024–25 College Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE) 

Six candidates (NCTE and ELATE members) for the ELATE Executive Committee; three to be elected 

Eight candidates (NCTE and ELATE members) for the 2024–25 ELATE Nominating Committee; five to be elected 

Literacies and Languages for All (LLA) 

Two candidates for LLA President-Elect; one to be elected 

Two (international) candidates for the LLA Executive Board; one to be elected 

Two candidates for the LLA Executive Board; one to be elected

IT IS IMPORTANT to submit nominations by November 15, 2023. 

  

NOTE: Most nominating committees contact only those individuals who will be formally invited to run for office. Results of the NCTE, NCTE Section, ELATE, and LLA Nominating Committees’ deliberations are announced on the NCTE website and in the appropriate March and April journals. If you wish to notify your nominees before then, you can get the final slate of candidates by contacting elections@ncte.org after February 1, 2024.
