Join the NCTE Middle Level Section Book Club with author Christina Soontornvat on July 28 at 7:00 p.m. ET. We will discuss our reading of A Wish in the Dark and All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team. Participants who read one or both of the texts will have opportunities to share in small groups. We will also chat with Christina Soontornvat as we consider a culturally sustaining approach to planning and to teaching our middle grade students.

Christina Soontornvat is an award-winning author, engineer, and STEM educator. Her many works for children include picture books and the Diary of an Ice Princess chapter book series. Her middle grade fantasy novel, A Wish in the Dark, and All Thirteen: The Incredible Cave Rescue of the Thai Boys’ Soccer Team were both named 2021 Newbery Honor Books.
