Governor of Oklahoma Mary Fallin, who two years ago supported Common Core, changed her mind and signed HB 3399 earlier this month to rescind the Common Core. Fallin stated, “We are capable of developing our own Oklahoma academic standards that will be better than Common Core….President Obama and Washington bureaucrats have usurped Common Core in an attempt to influence state education standards”
Unfortunately, the state has already paid millions of dollars to have new assessments created based upon the Common Core Curriculum. Thus, currently there are no official standards in English/reading and mathematics in Oklahoma, while the end-of-year test required of all students in 2015 will be based on the now defunct Common Core Standards.
