African American Read In

February 23, 2024

Teachers signed up classes to visit the library media center to read picture books, lyrics, poems, and excerpts of novels. It was an informal, passive, and communal activity to uplift Black voices in literature and the arts. We highlighted picture books mostly that represented joy folly, history, and pride!!

Students and staff brought in excerpts to read also. Students could recite the last 10 minutes of the period or post meaningful passages on sticky notes for display. Students had the opportunity to win prizes too by attending.
