Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM)

 

2026 REALM Awards: Call for Reviewers

 

NCTE’s Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazine (REALM) Awards are made possible by a pool of thoughtful volunteer reviewers who score hundreds of student-led art and literary magazines each year.

 

  • The vast majority of REALM's submissions are at the high school level, with higher education and middle school roughly splitting the remaining submissions. Each reviewer is typically assigned submissions that are either all middle school, all high school, or all higher education. Please select all the grade levels that you feel comfortable scoring.
  • Certificates will be emailed within a week of completing the judging process.
  • Contest judging for both takes place in March and April each year.
  • This year, NCTE would like to express its gratitude to reviewers by highlighting their service in the winter of 2026. We plan to shout out each reviewer on our website with their first name, last name, and state/territory. To opt out or modify what is shared, please select one of the options below.
