April #NCTEchat: Student Voice, Student Advocacy

Student voice and advocacy are a big focus for educators and students alike right now. Dive in with the NCTE community as we discuss these topics at our next #NCTEchat this Sunday, April 15. We hope you can join us at 8 p.m. ET as we discuss student voice and advocacy. We hope you will share your knowledge and learn with us on Twitter!

Here are the questions for the Twitter chat:

Q1. What does advocacy look like for students in your classroom/community? What are some ways or tools that students use to amplify their voices?

Q2. How can we make space for student voices in an environment (e.g., school, community) that may not necessarily be receptive to the idea of students advocating for themselves?

Q3. What are some ways of connecting students to each other and with mentors that will help develop and expand their voices?

Q4. What is the teacher’s role in advocacy? How can teachers help students develop and refine their voice? What resources have you found helpful in teaching your students about the power of their own words?

Q5. What ideas from this chat do you plan on bringing into your classroom around the idea of student voice and student advocacy?

We hope to see you there! Be sure to join us by using #NCTEchat.
