Join Build Your Stack in Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Children’s Book Week!

This blog post is written by Lynsey Burkins, NCTE member and chair of the Build Your Stack committee.

April 29 to May 5 is a very special week for children’s books—it marks the annual celebration of books for young readers and the joy of reading sponsored by the Children’s Book Council. Children’s Book Week was established in 1919 and has held events in schools, homes, libraries, and bookstores each year to help young readers connect to books.

Build Your Stack® is a National Council of Teachers of English initiative focused exclusively on helping teachers build their book knowledge and their classroom libraries. We believe that the right book in the right hands can transform a life. That’s why #BuildYourStack is celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Children’s Book Week with a week of opportunities to join in and celebrate the joy of reading with us!

Share Your Favorite Children’s Book Quote on Twitter

Have a favorite quote from a children’s book? Who doesn’t? Here’s your chance to share yours with the Build Your Stack Twitter community!

On Monday, April 29, we’ll pin a tweet to the top of our account asking educators to share their favorite book quotes in a thread using #BuildYourStack and #BookWeek100.

In honor of the 100th Anniversary of Children’s Book Week, our goal is to reach 100 quotes by Friday evening. We will also be selecting some of the quotes to post to our Instagram account and will post all of the quotes shared in a wrap-up blog post. Join us!
