I is for interactive tools.
These tools go by many names – interactives, student materials, tools. Whatever you call them, we know they are wildly popular! There are 58 in all, ranging from tools that help with pre-writing, post-reading, graphic organizers, and a suite of poetry tools. Engage your students in online literacy learning with these interactive tools that help them accomplish a variety of goals—from organizing their thoughts to learning about language—all while having fun.
J is for jazz.
Jazz on an English language arts site? RWT has numerous lesson plans and activities incorporating jazz and other cross-content area subjects. There are resources integrating math, science, STEM, social studies and history and of course the arts.
K is for keyword.
ReadWriteThink.org has a weath of resources and that can sometimes make it hard to find what you need! Luckily, there is a robust search and filter tool. Find exactly the resource you need by using the filter tool to quickly and effectively narrow your search. The blue filter tool is on the left-hand side of most pages on the site.
L is for lesson plans.
The lesson plans on RWT are the cornerstone on which the site was built in 2002 when the site was born. The library of lesson plans has now grown to almost 900 lesson plans that cover topics and titles for teachers and students grades K-12. These standards-based lesson plans written and reviewed by educators using current research and the best instructional practices. Find the perfect one for your classroom!
M is for mobile apps.
There’s an app for that! Now you can engage your students in literacy learning using tablet devices. Students can download a mobile app and use it anywhere, anytime. No Internet connection is required once the apps are downloaded. The work on the apps can also be saved in progress or as a final product and each can be shared via email or the cloud.
