ReadWriteThink.org A-Z, Part 5

AtoZIn Part 4, we took a look at ReadWriteThink.org from N to R. In this post, we will cover S-W.

S is for Strategy Guides.

Looking for new teaching strategies or interested in brushing up on the strategies you are already using in your classroom? Strategy guides define and provide examples of effective literacy teaching and learning strategies and offer a wealth of related resources to help sharpen your instruction.

T is for Text Messages and Chatting About Books.

ReadWriteThink.org hosts two podcast series. Text Messages is a Grades 6 – 12 Podcast Series hosted by Jennifer Buehler, providing families, educators, out-of-school practitioners, and tutors reading recommendations they can pass along to teen readers. Each episode features in-depth recommendations of titles that will engage and excite teen readers. Chatting About Books is a Grades K – 5 Podcast Series where the host, Emily Manning, chats with kids, parents, and teachers about the best in children’s literature for ages 4 through 11. Discussions include reading tips and fun activities to do with children before, during, and after reading.

U is for using the site.

In the Site Demonstration section of the site, you’ll find an overview presentation of the site; a series of video demonstrations, each focusing on a different feature of the site or topic area; and session presentations that allow you to watch conference sessions at your convenience.

V is for video library.

One of the newest sections of the ReadWriteThink.org site is the Video Library. There are several sections: Literacy in Action, Presentations, Using RWT, and Just for Fun. You don’t have to read everything the site has to offer, you can watch too!

W is for writing for the site.
