Support Literacy Education This Giving Tuesday

This season, we give thanks to everyone in our community who has supported NCTE in 2025. We are looking ahead to a new year full of even more teacher-driven classroom resources, professional development, research, and advocacy—all while bringing educators together in community.

At the same time, persistent financial constraints and budget cuts continue to act as a barrier for many teachers in areas all across the country. That’s why we are especially grateful that this year, thanks to members and supporters, our pool of funding for scholarships for teachers to attend the Annual Convention grew by an astonishing 69 percent. This inspiring generosity enabled nearly 200 teachers to attend the nation’s premier annual event for ELA educators. As one scholarship recipient said, “I’m excited to bring back new ideas and inspiration to my students and colleagues, especially because we are a rural district that does not often get such opportunities.”

But the power of donations does not stop there. Donations made to NCTE this Giving Tuesday will ensure that we can grow and build upon the work completed this year. Members and supporters of the NCTE community can:

  • Donate to the NCTE General Fund, which supports efforts to enrich teacher and student learning, advance research, preserve intellectual freedom, and support educator agency. NCTE will continue to work tirelessly for the ELA field by providing leading-edge classroom resources and programming, unique research and initiatives that uplift teacher voice and expertise, professional development that promotes educator and student success, and advocacy that meets the moment.
  • Donate to the NCTE Annual Convention Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to cover Convention registration for NCTE members. Thanks to the generosity of donors over the years, thousands of teachers who otherwise would not have been able to benefit from this programming received funding to travel to the Convention and bring back valuable insights and books to their schools and classrooms.
  • Gift an NCTE membership to say “thank you” to a special friend, colleague, or student. Just $59 a year ($30 for students) provides access to our full suite of offerings, from lesson plans that help foster learning environments where all students can engage and thrive to virtual and in-person gatherings that build connections and grow careers.

We recognize that these are challenging times. Educators are giving it their all every day. We are proud to begin a new year together, and we see an even brighter future ahead. During this season of gratitude and giving, we are immensely grateful for a donation of any amount to inspire, engage, and propel our community into the future.
