Literacies and Languages for All (LLA) Awards
LLA awards honor members who view whole language as a dynamic philosophy of education.
All awards are given at the discretion of the LLA Executive Board from nominations submitted to the LLA Awards Committee. The nomination deadline is April 1 each year for all three awards.Nomination Form
The awards are presented at the Opening Session during the LLA Literacies for All Summer Institute. A brief review of the recipient’s contribution is given followed by the presentation of a plaque or certificate.
The Lifetime Membership Award is presented to a member who has, throughout his/her career, made an outstanding contribution to whole language in general and/or the Literacies and Languages for All in particular.
2020 Winner: Dr. Roxanne Henkin
The Service Award is presented to a member who has made a particular contribution to the Literacies and Languages for All in terms of the work they have done for the organization.
2020 Winner: Dr. Aurelia DeSilva
The Reclaiming the Joy of Teaching Award honors a preK-12 teacher that inspires authentic progressive literacy learning.
