World Teachers’ Day is held annually on October 5 since 1994. World Teachers’ Day marks not only a time to celebrate the contributions of teachers on a global scale, but also to recognize and mobilize around the challenges facing teachers every day.
This day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. The Recommendation sets standards regarding the rights and responsibilities of teachers for their initial preparation, further education, recruitment, employment, and learning conditions.
The theme for World Teachers’ Day 2022 is “The transformation of education begins with teachers.” At NCTE, we so appreciate the work of teachers, our members, and those in our community. Thank you today, and every day.
