CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR THE 2027 NCTE BALLOTS 

CANDIDATES NEEDED FOR THE NCTE BALLOT  

Vice President—two candidates from the Secondary Level Section (Section means voting section, regardless of teaching level); one to be elected 

Elementary Section Representative-at-Large—two candidates who, at the time of nomination, must be classroom teachers in grades preK–5; members of the Elementary Section; one to be elected (two-year term)

Middle Level Section Representative-at-Large—two candidates who, at the time of nomination, must be classroom teachers at the middle level, grades 5–9; members of the Middle Level Section; one to be elected (two-year term)

Trustees of the Research Foundation—four candidates who must be voting members of NCTE; two to be elected  

NCTE Nominating Committee candidates shall represent geographic diversity and be grouped by voting Section (Elementary, Middle Level, Secondary, College). For 2027–2028:

• Six members of the Elementary section; two to be elected
• Three members of the Middle Level section; one to be elected
• Three members of the Secondary section; one to be elected
• Three members of the College section; one to be elected

Six candidates (Elementary Section members) for the Elementary Section Steering Committee; three to be elected    

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2027–28 Elementary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

Middle Level Section  

Four candidates (Middle Level Section members) for the Middle Level Section Steering Committee; two to be elected

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2027–28 Middle Level Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected 

Secondary Section  

Two candidates (Secondary Section members) for the Secondary Section Steering Committee; one to be elected  

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2027–28 Secondary Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected 

College Section  

Six candidates (College Section members) for the College Steering Committee; three to be elected    

Six candidates (NCTE members) for the 2027–28 College Section Nominating Committee; three to be elected

English Language Arts Teacher Educators (ELATE)  

Six candidates (NCTE and ELATE members) for the ELATE Executive Committee; three to be elected  

Eight candidates (NCTE and ELATE members) for the 2027–28 ELATE Nominating Committee; five to be elected

Literacies and Languages for All (LLA)  

Four candidates for the LLA Executive Board; two to be elected 

Two-Year College English Association (TYCA) 

Two candidates for the TYCA Associate Chair; one to be elected

NOTE: Most nominating committees contact only those individuals who will be formally invited to run for office. Results of the NCTE, NCTE Section, ELATE, LLA, and TYCA Nominating Committees’ deliberations are announced on the NCTE website and in the appropriate March and April journals. If you wish to notify your nominees before then, you can get the final slate of candidates by contacting elections@ncte.org after February 1, 2027.
